Pre-move garage sale

We only have 9 more days until we leave for D.C., and I have been getting a little stressed about all the items we still have in the house and all the big items that we need to move/sell/give away/trash. So the beginning of the week Terry and I were talking and on the fly we decided to have a Garage Sale. There were a few things that went through my mind

1st Who has a Garage Sale in DECEMBER when it is 40 degrees outside and windy. I dont want to be out in the cold.
2nd Is this going to be worth it? All the set up for no one to come and buy anything. I mean it's December remember.
3rd Am I going to have to do all of this like I have done with all the packing so far?

Here are some of the items that we were trying to sell

A Couch and Coffee Table

Lawn Equipment

32" TV (Very old and VERY heavy)

I really thought this was going to be a waste of time, but after about an hour we had made $100 and there were still people coming. I was amazed at the amount of people that had come and the amount that we made at the end of the day.

Needless to say it has been a good New Years Eve.

Voluntarily Unemployed and Final Preperations

Saturday, December 25, 2010 Posted by Terry /0 comments
This past week, Elizabeth and I turned in our final notices to work. Elizabeth was "relieved" instantly, but luckily was paid out for her two week notice. I on the other hand will be working until the Friday before we leave.  So for the time being, we are voluntarily unemployed.

We're now in the final stretch! Two weeks to go! We both have a single rolling suitcase and a 70 Liter backpack, so its going to be a tight fit.  Needless to say, we're narrowing down the items that will make it into our bags.
I plan on packing 3 weeks of clothes and electronics.  Elizabeth plans on taking 5 weeks of clothes.  When we finally pack for real, we will see who is cutting out more.
