Day 134: Feria Puro Diseño

This past Saturday, Terry and I set out to visit the art and design exhibits that were being hosted at the La Rural, the city's fair grounds. The two exhibts were the ARTEBA and Feria Puro Diseño.  Walking up to the exterior gate we could see the first section of line going into the park grounds.  But this wasn't your ordinary line of 500 people. Even with tons of room available, the line had somehow curled and was growing so fast that it was now spiraling inwards on itself.

We made it through the outer two "layers" to find the end of the line at the center.  The line had grown too large to be corrected but strangely it was moving fast enough that it didn't self implode or cause a tipping point of frustration. Everyone was managing their place in line and continued to point new people to the center of the circle, which always received an "en serio? (seriously?)" in reply.

Twenty minutes later we'd made it into the park grounds to find ourselves at the end a much longer line, but the chaos hadn't ended when the line straightened out.  The reason the line outside was moving so fast was because half of the people weren't bothering to wait in line and were walking past everyone.  After a few minutes of being good queuing citizens, we couldn't pass up the opportunity to jump out of line and see if we could get ourselves inside any quicker (BIG MISTAKE).

Now out of line, we found out that the two exhibits going on were independent of each other. Both had their own ticket booth and line.  The people that were out of line had either already bought their tickets or were meeting someone who had.  With no way to purchase tickets without restarting, we chalked this up as a research mission and made a plan to go back on Monday fully prepared.

We arrived early on Monday in hopes of skipping the line madness.  But the line was still hundreds of people long so we had to make a chose between either the art or design show.  We choose the Feria Puro Diseno and I am glad we did.

For those of you who are from Oklahoma, this exhibit was a little bit Affair of the Heart and Girly Show mixed together.  There were all types of vendors selling things from jewelry, handmade bags, leather bags, vintage bags, housewares, cupcakes, candles, shoes, art supplies, etc.  We took a look around to scope it all out before Terry ducked out to the cafe so that I could get down to business.

Here are a few pictures I was able to take before it got way too crowded.

Wouldn't this be fun in a kids room!

I bought a treat for me at this little shop!
